APHA's Keep It Moving Challenge FAQs — #APHAKeepItMoving

Our goal is to get a little more active together as we head into NPHW! We hope to get as many people as possible to start the habit of moving every day. We know consistent physical activity like walking helps prevent chronic disease and improve quality of life, mental health and healthy aging.

How do I register for the challenge?

You'll need an email address and the APHA Moving app.

  1. Download the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store
  2. Click "REGISTER" on the start page
  3. Input your email and name
  4. Create your nickname and a password
  5. Agree to Terms of Use & Privacy Policy
  6. Hit "ACCEPT"

I can't find the option to create my own team. How do I create my own team at registration? 

When you register your account, you can create your own team, join an existing team or choose “No Team” if you haven’t decided yet. You can view team rankings against other teams based on average steps. You’ll also be able to see your teammates’ rankings!

If you do decide to create your own team or join an existing team after registration, select the “More Options” logo (represented by 3 horizontal, parallel lines) on the top right corner of the screen and click on “User Profile”. Underneath your chosen Nickname, you can choose an existing team from the drop-down menu, or you can click on “Create/Manage” to make your own team. Creating your team is as easy as entering a team name and hitting save at the bottom of the pop-up window in the app!

I don't remember what team I am in/I would like to join a team. How do I find that information? 

From your app's home page, select the menu icon on the top right corner to find "User Profile." This shows you what team you joined at registration, if any, and allows you to join or change teams.

What devices can connect to the APHA Moving app?

The APHA Moving app by HEKA HEALTH supports most major fitness trackers, including (click on your device's name for instructions on how to connect):

If you have any issues connecting your device, just click the blue button in the lower right hand corner of your program dashboard on the desktop or the "Contact Support" button on the app to send the Walker Tracker support team a message.

I don't have a device. Can I manually enter my activity?

With the APHA Moving app, you can manually input your activities by selecting Activity Log from the Bonus Activities Menu. For walking, you can select the appropriate intensity of aerobics as well as how long you walked.

What activities can I track other than walking? How can I log them? 

In your app home page, select the BONUS ACTIVITIES button. Here you’ll find the activity log with a list of nearly 40 activities with varying intensities to choose from. If you can’t find your activity, you have the option of “Other” to input in your stats. Select your activity, enter the time you spent doing it and the app will convert it into steps!

What is the "Scan-In" option under bonus activities?

You have the chance to scan-in QR codes for bonus steps. Keep an eye out for them in your email and on the NPHW website! In the APHA Moving app, click on bonus activities and select Scan-In. This will open the in-app camera to allow you to scan the QR codes. If you are unable to scan the QR codes, simply enter the corresponding code in the text box below the camera window.

How does “Refer a friend” work?

You get 500 bonus steps for every friend (up to 20 friends) you email to join the challenge. Send an email to up to 2 friends every day to get your bonus points!

How does syncing work? / Why won’t my steps and activity load?

Select "Tap to sync steps" at the top of the summary screen to sync your step data from your tracker. Be sure to sync at least once daily! Some step trackers don't transfer data over 24 hours old.

Where are my steps and activity from before I downloaded the app?

The APHA Moving app will only credit activity starting from the time you download the app and your first pair your tracker.
