Building better public health programs with and for people who use drugs

Public health can be a critical partner in supporting the goals and needs of people who use or have used drugs. Including people with lived experiences in planning and implementing activities meant to address their needs is crucial. We have much to learn from folks who’ve successfully implemented such practice.

The harm reduction working group of the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) section of APHA will be hosting a National Public Health Week webinar focused on how to meaningfully and intentionally include people who use drugs (or have lived/living experience) in all aspects of public health programs. Panelists include:
• Shannon Ashe, The Everywhere Project
• Dennis Bailer, Project Weber/RENEW
• Mikaela Becker, Vivent Health
