Yale School of Public Health Leaders in Public Health featuring Dr. Roman Macaya

Please join us for the Yale School of Public Health Dean's Speaker Series, Leaders in Public Health, featuring Dr. Roman Macaya.

Roman Macaya is an Instructor in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He previously served as Executive President and Chairman of the Board of the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social, the institution that provides all public health care services in Costa Rica. He led the country´s health care response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this, Roman served as Costa Rica´s Ambassador to the United States, where he emphasized science and health diplomacy as one of the principal agendas of the embassy.

Roman has developed a multidisciplinary career as a biomedical scientist, businessman, diplomat, and public servant. Roman has held leadership roles in the fields of biomedical and clinical research, private equity, health care, and agribusiness. He currently serves in advisory and executive roles in health care initiatives and the agribusiness sector.

Roman holds an MBA in Health Care Management from the University of Pennsylvania, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from UCLA, and a B.A. in Chemistry from Middlebury College.

The Leaders in Public Health Series is open to active Yale community members only for in-person attendance. The general public is welcome and encouraged to participate via the Zoom link provided. Thank you for your understanding.
