Centering Community: Black Maternal Health and the Future of Public Health
In collaboration with the Maternal and Child Health Network, we will be hosting a panel discussion and lunch in alignment with National Public Health Week’s theme-“The Future of Public Health Starts Here: Strengthening the Public Health Workforce”- and Black Maternal Health Week. This panel will explore the urgent need to strengthen the public health workforce through the lens of Black maternal health. Through a conversation with professionals of diverse backgrounds, this conversation will examine how investing in community-rooted care models, addressing systemic inequities, and uplifting culturally responsive practices are essential to building a perinatal workforce equipped to serve all communities. By centering the experiences, needs, and leadership of Black birthing people, the panel will highlight strategies for creating a more just, resilient, and responsive public health system.
