Monday, April 1: Civic Engagement

Kickoff Forum, 2-3:30 p.m. ET

Join us for the kickoff of National Public Health Week 2024! Starting with a keynote address from Pattie Gonia, a popular drag queen, environmental and LGBTQ+ activist and community organizer, the forum will feature a panel discussion on public health’s work with communities – what’s going well and what we still need to do to achieve health equity.

Pathways to Public Health: Attending a Minority-Serving Institution, 12:30-1:30 p.m. ET

Narrowing down your options for college or graduate school can be hard. Join us for a webinar that dives into the benefits of pursuing a public health or similar degree at a minority-serving institution. 

Making Spaces Inclusive and Accessible: A Conversation on Intellectual Disability and Equity, 2-3 p.m. ET

Explore the unique needs and obstacles of students and workers living with intellectual disabilities, within the broader context of equity and transformative shifts in public health systems.

Getting Your First Gig: An Early-Career Professionals Panel, 5-6 p.m. ET

With graduation on the horizon, public health students and early-career professionals can learn from folks who have been there. This panel discussion will dive into how to make the jump from public health student to public health professional.

Wednesday, April 3: Climate Change

Empowering Health Professionals: Catalysts for Climate and Health Activism, 1-2 p.m. ET

In collaboration with ecoAmerica and Health Care Without Harm, we will unite institutions and people across the health sector in leveraging their role as trusted communicators and important partners in the fight for climate justice and health equity. Free continuing education credits!

APHA President's Fireside Chat, 4-5 p.m. ET

Join APHA President Ella Greene-Moton in conversation with NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson, JD, for a conversation about health equity and community empowerment.

NPHW Trivia Night, 7-9 p.m. ET, Washington, D.C.

Swing by as you are in D.C. for a night packed with trivia, laughter and free food. Whether you’re a trivia whiz or just up for some fun, come as you are and mingle with other public health folks. Thursday, April 4: New Tools and Innovations

Thursday is Public Health Workforce Day, a time to honor the hard work and commitment of those who have dedicated their lives and careers to protecting the public's health. In celebration, APHA will be offering free continuing education credit webinars to support growth in the field.

Building Extreme Heat Resilience Through Innovative Solutions, 1-2 p.m. ET

Heatwaves are predictable hazards. We need cost-effective technologies and strategies that lead to heat-resilient communities and health care systems. Join APHA’s Center for Climate, Health and Equity and ecoAmerica to hear from experts who are implementing these innovative solutions at the local, regional and national level.

Innovative Workforce Solutions: Lessons learned from Public Health AmeriCorps, 3-4 p.m. ET
